- Making false statements to obtain plates or placards is a fourth degree crime punishable by fines up to $10,000 and imprisonment up to 18 months.
- The placard is nontransferable and will be revoked if used by any other person. Abuse results in immediate revocation of the ID card, placard, and plates.
- A Person with a Disability Identification Card is issued with the placard and/or plates and must be carried at all times when using wheelchair symbol parking privileges.
- Each qualified individual receives one placard or one set of wheelchair symbol license plates, or both.
Documents You’ll Need
To apply for, replace, or renew a New Jersey disability parking placard or license plates, here’s what you need:
New Permanent Placard or License Plates

Veteran Exemption
